Add Swype to Huawei Ideos U8150

The Ideos U8150 has been released into many countries. There are some minor variations between the models released into some countries. One variation is where swype is not included as standard.   Following is a method to add swype to this phone.

To add Swype to the Huawei Ideos U8150 there are several steps involved.

1. Add a file manager to the Ideos via the Apps market.

2. Download to your computer this Swype which can be found via a search: SWYPE 2.6.47.11856 QVGA v2 by Marurban.apk. One source for this file is http://www.4shared.com/file/GqLdxCU-/SWYPE_264711856_QVGA_BO_v2_by_.html

3. Mount the micro SD by connecting the phone to the computer via the USB cable and copy SWYPE 2.6.47.11856 QVGA v2 by Marurban.apk to the micro SD.

  1. Press the power on/off button
  2. Set the screen timeout to the smallest value

  4. Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  5. Disable background data synchronization
  6. Disable data service
  7. Disable GPS
  8. Use only 2G networks
